“Should I be out car shopping right now?”
The answer to that is yes! Here at Bryant Motors, we can confidently say this because you don’t necessarily have to be “out” car shopping. Most of the process, if not all of it, can be done online. But if you must come into contact with someone from a dealership, make sure you take the necessary precautions.
Rest assured that the entire Bryant Motors team is taking all necessary precautions to protect the health and safety of our customers!
For guidance on how to buy a car from a dealer by way of social distancing, check out the steps below.
1. Shop for financing online.
Financing is one step that you may not have realized you can do online and on your own. Many people are used to this dreaded step when you have to sit in the finance office for what seems like forever while they’re working on getting your deal.
But you can also go online, compare finance companies and choose the one that you want. You’re able to fill out all paperwork and even electronically sign and secure financing, all from the comforts of home!
2. Browse inventory and contact dealerships.
Now that you know how much financing you’ve been approved for, it’s time to shop. Whether buying a new or used car, here at Bryant Motors we have an impressive online inventory for you to look through — packed with interesting facts, details and tidbits about each vehicle.
Once you’ve narrowed down a list of potential vehicles you’re interested in, we invite you to give us a call and find out how we are handling car sales right now and what measures we’ve taken to protect customers. We’ll give you details about how each step in the process will be handled, especially what cleaning and social distancing actions we’re using.
3. Do as much preliminary research as you can.
Now it’s time to narrow down your choice of vehicles. All of the information you could ever want about each vehicle can be found online, so carefully research all of the features of a vehicle that are important to you.
Check out the many comparisons that pit car types against each other. Read all of the reviews from auto industry experts as well as customers. See where your top vehicles rank in terms of safety features.
Buying a used car? Go a little deeper with your research into how certain vehicles perform down the line. Are you seeing any trends in certain problems with certain vehicles? How does a certain vehicle perform with higher mileage? Also, contact the dealer to get the VIN for a vehicle history report.
4. Contact the sales department.
Okay, so now you have your financing and you’ve narrowed down your vehicle choices. You are now ready to contact the sales department. What options you have depend on the dealerships you contact. This portion could be carried out over the phone, email or online chat.
Again, depending on how the dealership handles this portion of the car-buying process, you may be able to hash out a deal and possibly even finalize the paperwork without having to go into the dealership. If a test drive isn’t necessary, the vehicle can even be dropped off at your home.
5. If you must meet in person…
Up until this point, the entire process has had the possibility of being contactless. But if you have to sign the paperwork or you’re looking to test drive, dealerships are offering several different options to keep you safe during this portion.
Some dealerships are allowing you to test drive without a salesperson in the car. Other dealerships will even drop off the vehicle at your home and allow you to test drive.
Keep social distancing at the top of your mind. Here at Bryant Motors, we promise to do our part, but you must do yours as well by doing the following:
- Always maintain a 6-foot distance from the salesperson (no “shaking on the deal”).
- Keep hands clean and away from your face (wash, sanitize, wear gloves, etc.).
- Wear a face mask.
- Bring your own pen and/or disinfectant wipes as an extra precaution.
Don’t be afraid to speak up about situations that would make you more comfortable, like minimizing time in enclosed spaces, and conducting business outside the dealership, such as signing paperwork.
Contactless car shopping is possible. If you’re in the market for a new or used car and don’t want to wait, consider Bryant Motors. We are taking several precautions to make your car-buying process easy and safe.
