One of the most popular cars of all times will be making some changes in their 2018 model. There will be a focus on weight reduction as well as fuel economy on the upcoming Wrangler says Mike Manley, CEO and President of the Jeep brand.
Automakers are required by federal regulations to improve their fuel economy annually through the year 2025. This is one of the main reasons for the needed changes in the Wrangler. In an interview with Edmunds, Manley says that although Jeep loyalists are concerned that the 2018 model will not live up to its’ heritage, that this is absolutely not the case.
He states that “We must be innovative in terms of what we do for the next Wrangler because clearly we have to make sure that vehicle survives into the future. It is vital for the brand.” Basically, the experts working on this will do everything to make certain the customers are still incredibly happy with the upcoming model, all while still meeting the lower MPG requirements.
One of the main things they are working on is the power trains. This is a major focus for the company. He also states that there will be no compromises to the architecture of the Wrangler. He believes the next generation Wrangler is the benchmark and they are going to push the benchmark as far as they can.
