Jeep and Paramount did not spare any expense or style when they created a custom Jeep for Lara Croft in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. The tricked-out SUV used by actress Angelina Jolie in the film was a Jeep Wrangler shell that was customized to fit the character’s style and her extreme moves (i.e. landing in the Jeep via a parachute).
The Jeep featured in Tomb Raider was designed by both the Jeep Design Studio and members of the movie’s production team, Graham Kelly and Kirk Petruccelli.
Jeep makes a special Tomb Raider model for fans
To thrill Tomb Raider fans and Jeep enthusiasts alike, Jeep decided to release a sort of collector’s edition Jeep that was called the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon: Tomb Raider Edition. This Jeep was released in 2003 alongside the release of the movie.
Some of the unique and custom details on the Tomb Raider Jeep Wrangler included:
- Tomb Raider badge
- Diamond-plated bumper guard
- Lightbar above the windshield
- Fog lights
- Riveted fender flares
- Black tubular grille guard
- Tail lamp guards
- 16-inch Alcoa-forged aluminum wheels
The interior featured red accents on the seats and red seatbelts.
All of the Jeep Wrangler Tomb Raider exteriors were painted a bright silver to match the Jeep in the film. Each of these Jeeps also came with their own Tomb Raider serial number and license plate.
Tomb Raider Jeeps are a rare find today
There were only about 1,000 Tomb Raider Jeeps produced, making them a rare commodity nowadays. Because there are so few left, it’s very difficult to find a Jeep Wrangler Tomb Raider Edition for sale anywhere. They are still considered a collector’s item for Tomb Raider fans.
Even though Bryant Motors may not have a coveted Jeep Wrangler Tomb Raider Edition for sale, we do have a pretty awesome selection of new and used Jeeps ready to be test-driven at our Sedalia dealership. Check out our selection online or in-person today!
