“Are we there yet?”
Ahhh, yes… the two most popular phrases uttered in the back seat on family road trips.
Keeping kids entertained on road trips has been an issue since the beginning of auto travel. Lately, more parents have resorted to using screens to keep their kids distracted and quiet for the entire trip.
How about breaking up some of that screen time with a few road trip games?
These games will open up the family dialogue and can also help the kids become more aware of the world around them.
I Spy is a classic game that’s fun for all ages. How it works is one person secretly looks around and spots an object. He or she then recites the following clue, only giving away the color of the object in question:
“I spy with my little eye, something that is… green.”
Everyone takes turns guessing what the object could be. First person to guess correctly wins the round and gets to choose the next object to spy.
Road Trip Bingo
What do you get when you mix a road trip, a scavenger hunt, and the game of bingo? Road Trip Bingo!
Before your trip, create or print bingo cards with items instead of numbers. Using a pen or marker, each kid marks off a box when they see the item, like a stop sign or an airplane.
The game continues until someone gets Bingo.
License Plate Game
How about working together as a team for this activity? The license plate game is played by trying to find a license plate from each of the 50 states. Allow the kids to keep track of this with a list, either by writing each state down or checking them off from an existing list.
These games are sure to help your road trip go more smoothly and peacefully. And if you’re in need of a comfortable family vehicle for an upcoming trip, Bryant Motors has you covered. Check out our inventory of new and used vehicles.
